Our consumer-oriented culture tells us that unless we have money we are nobodies.  Is this true? How do we keep our self-esteem intact and souls unbroken, when the place we live, or the money we make and the places we eat at, define us as a poor majority and we are treated us as such: Condescending and with the superiority financial status seem to be  the “key” to the “respect” a superficial society bestowed or not on the less fortunate.

When I first moved in this area, and I must stress, in my over 35 years of life in the land of the free, MY country of choice, I never experienced the feeling that I needed to explain why I lived in an area and not across the river called here “the shore.” I didn’t even imagine such social separatism  still existeted  just two hours away from Philadelphia, a true melting pot and friendly city.

So, I had difficulties making this a “home,” understanding something which I thought was long gone…but am glad I didn’t give up.

In the process, I took the time to look and enjoy the little things in life, those which equally exist on both “shores.” Not surprisingly, God didn’t discriminate and generously blessed both shores with natural beauty. 

Nature and its beauty and healing power are present everywhere for FREE.

A gift to ALL!!!

The miracle of Nature is here regardless of where you live, or of your social or economical status, everyone could enjoy and be healed by it.

The Higher Power offered me, please note I do not use the word “blessed,” as to me that would mean “easy,” with a life path that is more of a maze. At times I get angry, other times happy and grateful, a roller coaster of events and the resulting emotions which so far, made my personal life challenging but not boring.

Would I have preferred easy? Probably, for an instant, but ancient wisdom teaches us that in pain and suffering there is growth and evolution to higher levels of understanding of our purpose on Earth and in the Universe…Keeping this in mind, I would like to share a personal story…

This is a true story, as all the stories on my blog, and I am sharing it because I hope it will give others some answers, or deeper questionings, perhaps. As they say in AA and Al Anon, “Take It or Leave It!.”

Lately, I have been battling very serious personal problems, which are not the topic at hand, except that because of these PROBLEMS I kept questioning, as most of us do, why me??? Why again??? What did I do wrong? Where is GOD???

I belong to several professional groups on Linkedin and because one of my interests is psychology, also spirituality, I posted a thread ” Spirituality and Religion? What is Your Opinion? “

The groups on Linkedin, give us the points of view of people all over the world. It is one of the good miracles of modern technology.

I sent this question for approval by the group Manager, late last night. I don’t know if it is approved, nor do I care. Why??? You might ask???

This morning, I was struggling to get some more sleep in, although my initial plan was to wake up and go to a very open-minded “real people” church around the corner from me.

A new Minister had just arrived, and  I had mixed feelings: did I really want to go? I liked the little that I knew about the Pastor who left. I am angry at God anyway, what could he possibly say? I’ll get “opinions” from my Linkedin Group on the TOPIC on my mind: RELIGION and SPIRITUALITY!!!

The Alarm rang, the dogs started pulling at my sheets eager to go out and get fed. Downstairs, Max, my African Grey Parrot kept screaming: “I Love You!!! Where are YOU???”

Of course Max, too, loves me so passionately motivated by treats. That’s okay. How many people could say there is someone telling them I LOVE YOU!!! every single morning:)? I consider myself lucky!

I gave up on laziness, did my morning routine and arrived at church a little late, but just on TIME to hear the new Minister say:

“Today’s Sermon is,

“CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELIGION!”

It is the non-judgmental attitude and the way we treat others that is a  Christian commandment, so wonderful and hard to follow. Jesus did NOT judge! He helped, loved and was the friend of the sinners.

Amen!

God forgive to mention your ex, as that may be interpreted that you are not over him!!! Your new hope to happiness would be in great danger!
Internet dating, once upon a time, a secret, we didn’t talk about, but we all tried, today is the number one way to find your Prince without a horse.

After my divorce I went on line. My profile was, you know, like in the Facebook posts. I created the perfect ME which attrackted the Prince. He asked to meet at a Pizza Place, because he had no car. Not being materialistic I didn’t ask why? God forbid he would be hurt!
We met at noon, another good rule. He was already there waiting for me. First impression, he looked fine. Didn’t check the condition of his teeth however, and without glassed everyone looked handsome. We ordered a whole big pizza! I wondered, was he that hungry?
I broke all rules and ask him: “do you live around here? He responded:” Oh, yeah, my evil wife had the courts take my driver’s license because I didn’t pay child support. Bitch! While he bitched about the “bitch,” my thoughts raced, back a week before, when the courts took my husband’s driver’s license for not paying child support. It was unsolicited disclosure but boy, was a happy he disclosed.
I kept nodding, and once in a while made happy sounds of happiness or empathy, and approval:” Oh! No! That bad!How do you feel about it, yeah definitely a bitch.” Then I waited for his reply.In 5 minutes I found out why “the bitch” divorced him. Imagine, She wanted him to work! They had three kids! And help with the chores! I thought in a moment of self-hypnosis the bitch in his story was me! He was telling me MY story.
Then it happened!!!! The disaster.
“Ouch, my tooth! This damn pizza broke my tooth. He spat out a yellow piece of his front tooth. Commotion, the waitress came, the owner was mortified and offered to pay for his dental bill. Prince Charming seemed pleasantly surprised.He smiled with his now, toothless mouth, “deal” is good he whispers in my ear. We headed to the exit, but suddenly, he turned around and said to the waitress: “Honey, where is that pizza. That was one good pizza, could you wrap it up to go? The woman nodded and handed him the pizza.
Outside, he said: “Good pizza, and now I have dinner.”
He followed me to my car.” Is he thinking I’d give him a ride?” I thought, and to prevent any confusion I said: “Well, good bye, I’d offer you a ride but I am going in the opposite direction.”
To make sure all was clear, and not even knowing which way he needed to walk, I said: “Good-bye.

On a first date, smile, nod,listen. This is all you have to do and the truth will surface sooner than you’d have hoped.
