We could add “healthy,” as by definition most dogs get into trash, so these treats are definitely healthier than trash!
Why I made these treats today, on Sunday? I could tell you the story about loving my dogs so much, I cook for them. It is actually, mostly true! I could also say, this is a special weekend treat. This too is true, as today is Sunday.
However, the real reason I baked these dog treats is because my dogs looked sort of depressed and I decided to try food therapy
using healthy inredients, of course… well what I had on hand, actually:
Ingredients:
2 beat eggs
2-3 Tablespoons peanut butter (organic is best)
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup water
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup fresh chopped parsley (freshens breath, so no one could say your dog has dog breath and embarrass the pup!)
2-3 Tablespoons cocoa butter oil
2-3 Tablespoons olive oil
A pinch of salt
Mix ALL these ingredients well. Consistency should be like play dough, not too hard, not too soft, so you could shape in desired form and place on greased cookie sheet.
The above ingredients could be less or more, as long as you get the right consistency and the dough holds together.
Bake at 200 F for about 15 minuted, then at 350 for another 15-20 minutes, OR depending on shape of treats, until they are DONE.
The treats will harden as they get cold.
Refrigerate and treat your furry companions!
