Trust And Safety…

Make sure all is safe, Then relax...

Make sure all is safe, Then relax…

Is total trust possible? Is it real when we think it is, or is all our perception?

This was my “meditation,” as I tried to breathe

out  and in.

Breathe OUT FIRST, slowly… The slower  the more relaxed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…Is perfect trust possible?

I feel my boxer’s chin leaning on me, his total trust could not be described, just felt.

Trust,  the foundation of  any good relationship, doesn’t come easy, it is earned. It takes time and work.

How does trust feel?

I breathe out, I breathe in … It feels “safe,” but before we could let go, trust, and feel safe, just like my boxer, Duke, whose trust was betrayed before he was rescued, we need to make sure all IS truly image

imagesafe around us! Then… RELAX!!!

Look right, look left… make sure you could trust to feel safe enough to lean on someone, close your eyes and relax!

Trust doesn’t happen! It is earned!

Could Your Dog Speak?

saved_resourceDoes your pet communicate with you, would be a more appropriate statement, not even a question!
Any lucky person who has a companion pet, or two, or three… may be more, knows each of them excells at communication, especilly when it comes to their needs.

A pet companion needs are very much like ours: food, sleep, shelter. Despite the current debate on “dog pants,” should a dog wear pants on all four legs or just hind, my opinion is no and no, but yes, some human wants to make money!

Back to dogs and communication!

Those of you who read Lola’s blog or some of the posts on this blog, know about Duke, my boxer guard dog.

Just in case you don’t, Duke has been with me since 2009 when the rescue organization told me he was around a year old, came from The South and already “lost” a few good homes because he ran away and the adoptive families could not take the responsibility!
On the brighter site, he was a great guard dog!

For the first two years I tried to understand how he jumped over a 7 foot fence?!!!
I finally caught him in the act and discovered he didn’t jump, he crawled up a fence and the height didn’t matter!

In the beginning, I was so distrustful of him, and he, of me. I slept with the light on, to see who made a possible first move!

When we rescue dogs, we need to know that they will have trust and anxiety issues…
They have been abused and abandoned before and it will take time and work to building a bond with a human!

The good news is that once the bond is created you have a loyal friend and protector like no other!

Of course, Duke asks for His needs to be met, such as food at 7:00 am. The way he communicates it is what I would like to share with you…

Listen, and you be the judge! What does he sound like?

Please share with us stories about how does your companion pet communicates!

Two Easy Secrets for Successful 2016 Resolutions!

imageCall them “secrets” or common sense…either way, after a night of insomnia on New Year’s Eve, the only night in the year when is appropriate to be awake all night, I had an AHA MOMENT!!!

:image

Yes, less IS more!!!

We make unrealistic promises to ourselves and then we are disappointed!
How about trying this easy change:
Instead of JUMPING, expecting to be able to jump for the rest of our lives and never to fall… or fail, let’s TAKE STEPS.

Instead of leaps, we could walk first and “secret” number TWO, call it common sense too, walk in places we like!
To say it less metaphorically, let’s CHOOSE activities and tools we like in order to reach our goals. For instance, if you like swimming but not walking in the woods, go swimming. If you like painting, but not playing the piano, go paint. There are many ways which acheive the same goals. Choose the most appropriate for your needs and personality type.

Let’s take the top resolutions people make at New Year’s:

Loose weight, exercise more, quit smoking …etc.

Well… let’s face it…if we haven’t done it already,(whatever that is) and waited for the New Year, it is probably something which requires effort and may be, just may be, it doesn’t come naturally to us?
If what I suggested above holds true, write ONE RESOLUTION and three activities you like as steps to accomplish your goal and SHARE with me privately or publicly in a comment.

One of my few 2016 Resolutions is to use the gifts God gave me and the knowledge I aquired through education and experience, to support and advocate for those who feel they could benefit.
